JULIE BEAUMONT
Sculpture & Glass Artist
Artist Bio:
Inspiration is the mantra Julie lives by. Inspiring herself and others with her art is her main focus which is why she loves to "go large" with her art. Julie discovered the world of melting glass about 7 years ago and has been exploring various techniques since then including fusing, slumping and sculpture. She creates her own design elements in a variety of ways, from dripping glass through a hole in the bottom of her kiln to working with powdered and broken glass to create unique textures which she then re-fires to create the finished art piece.
Julie was born in Warkworth in the 1960's and loves the area and all it has to offer. She loves bold colours and recently has been enjoying making "picasso'esque" faces a metre tall to hang on the wall. She also enjoys the fluidity of the glass and making sculptural pieces reminiscent of coral, taking inspiration from the colours in nature and the various shapes and textures found when walking the local beaches.
While Julie is little in stature, you will often hear her say "go big or go home" referring to her next ambitious glass project, she loves to make oversized pieces which will make a statement.
