Shanna is a fine art painter specialising in realism. Originally from South Africa, she spent many holidays in game reserves and developed a great love and appreciation for all things wild. She tries to capture the essence of the animal she is painting and looks for subjects with unique lighting and presence. Although she studied graphic design and photography after school, most of her life was spent teaching and competing in the sport of dressage. She taught horse riding for 20 years before moving to New Zealand.

She has two beautiful daughters and started painting by painting rocks for her children to hide. She started getting requests from people to buy her rocks and from there she progressed to painting canvases. Though she sells internationally, she believes very resolutely that everyone should have at least one piece of original art in their home. If nothing else just for the joy it brings. As a result, she still regularly paints rocks and drops them in her neighbourhood for others to find and keep.
