Loamy Art

Painter

Artist Bio:

Amy completed her formal art education at the Otago Polytechnic School of Art in Dunedin. Following graduation, she held a couple of solo shows and received an emerging artist award at CoCA (Centre of Contemporary Art Toi Moroki, Christchurch). She later took a hiatus from showing her work, channelling her creative thinking into a career focused on people, learning and organisational development, while continuing to make art privately.

The surface of her paintings and drawings build slowly with layers of line, texture and stain as Amy explores the simultaneous experience of growth and decay. The start point for these abstractions are urban and natural surfaces. Her pieces function as a space to contemplate how becoming endlessly shape existence.

Now living in Mahurangi, Amy is returning to showing her paintings and drawings and is keen to connect with and contribute to the local artist community.
