Ann's journey towards acrylics has been circuitous starting with a childhood love of graphite drawing and followed by forays into watercolours. The result is clean forms and vibrant colours inspired by the natural world.

Nick’s traditional earthenware departs from his earlier wood fired stoneware. After many years necessarily pursuing other interests, including 15 years working at Elam School of Fine Arts, he’s enjoying making earthenware that’s both decorative and intended for everyday use.

Karena de Pont is a visual artist whose body of work is an assemblage of different expressions. Well known for her painted bamboo Earth Sticks as a sculptural focal point for gardens and her wall hung sculptural Island series or for her Burnt Offerings landscape and abstract acrylic paintings on charred cedar panels. Whatever the medium used, colour, texture, and the interplay of light are always a consideration in her work.

Philippa works in her newly created studio, using a wide range of media employing her skills in painting, digital printing, textile arts, ceramics, and sculpture to create artworks inspired by her love of NZ nature and landscape, and of colour, texture and pattern. A frequent finalist in World of WearableArt (WOW) with 8 garments in shows and a category winner.

Kathy is a yarn dyer specialising in alpaca yarn, as well as other luxury fibres such as silk/merino, possum/merino and polworth. Inspired by natures colours and the exciting, ever changing ways colours mix in the pot, Kathy loves to create unique colourways for knitters and crafters to turn into beautiful finished projects.

Janette completed a Masters Degree "Flowers in a Contemporary Painting Practice" in 2013 at Unitec. In 2014 with husband, Jake, (who works as studio technician, resin applicator, admin, P.A.), Janette moved from the city to a lifestyle and bush block north of Auckland near Warkworth. The home and studio sits surrounded by large native trees with an abundance of native bird life ever changing with the seasons.

Ludivine is a pottery artist that creates mainly functional pieces as well as some décor items inspired by her love of art, colours, infused by her French culture and by the beauty of nature. She loves the broadness of the ceramic world and the diversity it offers to create.

Julia's mother was a talented artist and her sister is too so it followed that, when she had time, she would take it up as well . Having been involved with farming and animals, especially horses all her life it follows that these are her favourite subjects to paint and draw

David produces bespoke wood fired stoneware vessels form his studio near Sandspit Warkworth. Having built his wood fired kiln in 2022 he produces functional ware using natural ash glazes and organic forms.

Tiina has painted New Zealand birds for many years but recently branched out to painting “Tonalist” landscapes. What appeals to her in “Tonalism” is the focus on expressing mood/feeling, atmosphere and only an illusion of detail with a limited palette of colours. She particularly likes playing with the light and shadow.

In approaching her art, Glenda Hopkins is always mindful of the intricacies within nature, its lines and patterns are artful in themselves. This year sees approaches using different materials, tools and being freer in form, more intuitive rather than defined by exacting something seen.

Rhana Panhuis is an artist inspired by the natural world, creating simple, organic jewellery and mixed media works that highlight the beauty of jade and raw materials. Her South Island work—among vast landscapes and mountains like sleeping forces—and time with horses feed a layered, intuitive process grounded in patience and quiet tension.

Warkworth artist, Pauline Gough, is a self taught contemporary acrylic and mixed media painter. Her aim is to paint intuitively and she works quickly in order to maintain a fresh result. She loves to paint in an impasto style, with energetic brushwork and deliberate texture.

Tony White has had a lifetime passion for painting, sculpture and all visual arts. Works include creations in ceramic, wood and metal sculpture, and a long-standing abstract painting practice. A restlessness is ever present, resulting in a wide ranging and diverse output. Works often develop in parallel, balancing conflict and harmony across two and three dimensions.

Brendan Adams, merges his painting background with ceramics, using vibrant colours and graphic detail in his pottery. Since 1988, he has explored the endless possibilities of form and texture in clay, creating both functional and sculptural works that have been exhibited nationwide

Michelle Hales works in responsibly sourced silver, gold and gemstones. She also combine pebbles and natural found materials as she draws inspiration from her everyday life. Her art practice extends to recycling household plastics to wearable pieces.

Jill Howard is a clay artist creating hand-built, small-batch ceramics from her beachside studio. Inspired by coastal textures, she works mainly with stoneware, often unglazed to reveal raw surface beauty. Each piece is intentionally organic—imperfectly perfect—and celebrates the joy of handmade craft.

Nicola Bedford, Vitality Art Studio, is an emerging NZ Creative with a vibrant colour palette and whimsical style. Nicola works with acrylic and resin to handcraft eye-catching artworks, often functional in nature. Nicola also shares her passion for art, and her own creative processes/techniques in a series of workshops in her studio in Matakana.

Alysn Midgelow-Marsden is a maker of inspiring and visually compelling forms comprising three-dimensional lines, structures and patterns in complex, lyrical fluidities using media such as textiles, wires, metals and plastics.

At Kotare Studio, Brian creates jewellery using glass, pounamu, wood and silver, applying a lifetime of engineering knowledge to create one-off beautiful wearable art. Glass is collected from the local beaches and fused to become the ‘Seakeep Glass’ range. He is happy to be commissioned to create pieces for special occasions.

Melissa Logan’s lifelong love of nature is central to her creative practice. Her early passion for drawing and painting led to formal design training at Whanganui School of Design, where her fascination with pattern, structure and colour continues to inform her evolving artistic practice.

In her art, Andrea explores the fragility of nature and how we interact with it. Her application of layered paints, gilding techniques, and dynamic brushstrokes transform indistinct memories into evocative projections. Andrea is fascinated by our local underwater world - influenced by her research time at the Leigh Marine Laboratory. Her works invite an immersive, sensory response from the viewer. She also loves to portray our bird life in the bush and gardens, in her own colourful interpretation of the ancient style of Chinoiserie.

Derek Ventling works across plywood, acrylics, screen-print, cyano-print, and collage, often from sketches taken in nature.

Sally Greer is an established designer and publisher, now re-emerging as a visual artist. After years of shaping stories on the page, she has returned to the studio to explore the language of paint, ink, and mark-making.

Her artwork explores the traces we leave on one another — stains, marks, and gestures that carry memory, humour, and connection. Working with acrylic and ink, Sally moves between structure and chance: washes that bleed into unexpected forms, lines that record both control and accident, surfaces that shift with time.

Hillary Austin is an Australian Ex Pat painter living in New Zealand. In addition to pursuing her own art practice which involves chasing volume in 2D images she is the founder of the Barefoot Artist Program for Aotearoa and offers community art classes and support for local Mahurangi artists.

Caroline Bell is a multidisciplinary artist working with clay, encaustic painting, and watercolour. Her abstract paintings depict gardens, weather, and nature. She enjoys encaustic’s fluidity and 3D effects, watercolour’s “happy accidents” and clay’s organic shapes. She experiments with glazes, slips, and alternative firing techniques like Raku and Sagger.

The OWL Community Arts Hub is a community based social enterprise between the Auckland Regional Council and local artists where 10% of total sales go to a community fund. There are currently 22 artists with works on display and for sale, ranging from swamp kauri sculptures, paintings, ceramics, resin art, crystals, contemporary Maori art works, jewellery and more. Well worth a visit and you can even relax in the lounge area for a friendly chat.
