ANN COOK
Graphite, Oils, Watercolours & Acrylic Painting
Artist Bio:
Ann Cook is a captivating artist whose creative journey began later in life, bringing depth and curiosity to her evolving practice. Starting with graphite, she built a strong foundation in form and texture, before exploring the fluidity of watercolour and vibrancy of acrylics. She now works with water-based oils, a medium that allows her to experiment with both softness and richness.
A turning point came with the creation of her dedicated studio space, encouraging bolder experimentation. Ann is particularly drawn to exploring colour and trying new painting techniques, often layering and reworking surfaces to discover fresh effects.
Inspired by nature, she paints flowers, lush tropical foliage, and more recently, the human form. Her work reflects a love of organic beauty, colour, and calm, often evoking a deep connection to the natural world.
Ann is committed to lifelong learning and creative exchange, actively participating in workshops and engaging with her local arts community. Encouraged by established artists, she values shared insights, evolving techniques, and fresh perspectives. Her work is a joyful testament to the possibilities of creativity at any stage of life.
