Juliana Austen – Pretty, Useless, Pottery

Juliana is a ceramic artist. She began her pottery journey with a Creative Matakana Workshop with the exceptional Liz Sharek in 2023. After years of dabbling in a variety of crafts she had finally found her medium!

Juliana hand builds with clay, embellishes with colour and then fires in a kiln where magic happens and mud is changed into a solid permanent form. S

he has always found great solace in her garden and now the colour, form and texture of the natural world inspire her art. Her work is hopefully pretty and mostly useless.
