Sonja is primarily interested in painting the figure and the face. This began in the life drawing room where she was told that drawing the human form is one of the greatest challenges for an artist.
Her most important influences are people - she likes to observe them. Their faces compel her to paint what lies beneath. Their complexities excite her curiosity. Sonja is currently experimenting with medium and colour.
