Sculptor

Artist Bio:
Sophie’s practice engages with New Zealand’s heritage architecture and its influence on domestic life. She works with salvaged materials from villas and bungalows in Auckland that are being demolished as part of urban redevelopment.
By reclaiming native weatherboards and floorboards, her work responds to the loss of historical housing while addressing broader conversations around sustainability and heritage preservation. The materials reference the visual language of the traditional New Zealand weatherboard house, functioning as a material record of architectural history.
The reuse and reimagining of these materials remains central to Sophie’s ongoing artistic practice.
