Artist Bio:

Christina Lynn McGrath is a multidisciplinary artist whose work flows at the meeting point of ocean, movement, and soul. Based in Matakana, New Zealand, she draws inspiration from the ever-changing rhythms of the sea and the raw beauty of her coastal surroundings.

Her practice is deeply intuitive, often beginning with fluid pours of color that mirror tides in motion. From there, Christina layers textures, translucent washes, and luminous highlights to capture both the power and serenity of water. Each piece becomes a meditation on contrasts — strength and surrender, turbulence and calm, the seen and the unseen.

Christina’s art is inseparable from her life as an endurance athlete, ocean lover, and high-performance coach. She believes creativity is a channel for flow state — the same heightened awareness she experiences while running long coastal trails or diving beneath the waves. Through her paintings, she invites viewers into this embodied sense of presence, where energy is both grounded and expansive.

Her work often incorporates poetry, etched or layered into the composition, adding depth and mystery while encouraging personal reflection. By merging visual and written language, Christina creates art that not only captures a moment but also resonates as a lived experience.

Rooted in Matakana yet connected to a larger sense of movement and transformation, Christina’s art seeks to remind us of our own inner tide — that pulse of strength, surrender, and flow that connects us to nature and to ourselves.
