SHARLENE HASLER
Whaea Atawhai
Mixed Media, Painting, Sculpture, Textiles & Weaving
Artist Bio:
Having spent four decades involved in various art and crafts, including pottery, sculpture, scrapbooking (both on and off the page) and mixed media painting, Sharlene has returned to her roots. Carrying on the work started by her mother 20 years ago, she has become a weaver and teacher, bringing a contemporary interpretation to kakahu (korowai). Inspired by traditional designs, but using modern materials, she specialises in hand-woven wearable art and miniature hand-woven designs in box frames. Feathers are always a feature in her designs. She also makes available some simple designs using hessian as a base to provide contemporary korowai framed art at a lower price.
Commissions are also available for full, half or three-quarter length clocks for special occasions or to keep as family heirlooms.
