TALIA RUSSELL

Printmaking

Artist Bio:

Talia Russell's iconic landscapes are brought to life with contrasting and harmonious colours and bold compositions. Influenced by travel posters, you can see these impacts on her work through her use of dynamic colour combinations and graphic configurations. With the belief that screen-printing is made for large scale, the majority of her work is A1 in size, creating a 'picture window' like effect on your wall.

Obtaining a Bachelor of Industrial Design from Victoria University, New Zealand in 1995, Talia then rediscovered art in 2012 at Leeds College of Art, United Kingdom where she immersed herself in print-making, before taking on an Artist in Residence position at Ink Workshop Ltd, Leeds, UK. Talia then went on to co-found and run the Leeds Print Fair for three years from 2014-2017.

Currently, Talia prints from her new studio in Mahurangi West, describing her art as 'iconic views seen in a different light' juxtaposing elements of realism with the surprise of surrealist colour combinations.
